Food for the Hungry LogoKaren is proud to dedicate a portion of the proceeds for Deadly Deceit to the international relief and Development organization, Food for the Hungry.

Since 1971, Food for the Hungry has worked with some of the world’s most vulnerable people in some of the world’s hardest places throughout Asia, Africa, and Latin America. As their vision statement says, their goal is to end extreme poverty:

“God called and we responded until physical
and spiritual hungers ended worldwide.”

Children in Food for the Hungry program“I’m impressed with Food for the Hungry because their work is unique, and it focuses on equipping and empowering women and children, who are usually the most vulnerable people in any community,” Karen says.

While Food for the Hungry also works in urban areas, they purposely find the remote and forgotten places where others don’t go. They talk to community members to ask them what they think keeps them locked in a generational cycle of extreme poverty. Then they work with the community to develop and implement a plan that equips and empowers them to solve their problems. And when the job is done — and the people no longer need outside assistance — Food for the Hungry move on to do it again the next community.

Here’s how they describe their mission:

“To walk with churches, leaders and families in overcoming all forms of human poverty by living in healthy relationship with God and His creation.”
